Pokémon Card Grading in Canada

A practical Canadian collector guide to condition, grading costs, choosing cards and buying graded slabs.

Before you submit

Grading can authenticate and protect a card while giving collectors a standardized condition opinion. Before submitting, compare the likely grade, total Canadian cost and the card's realistic graded value.

Inspect condition

Check centering, corners, edges and surface under clear light. Print lines, dents and whitening can affect the result even when a card looks clean in a sleeve.

Calculate the full cost

Include grading fees, shipping, insurance, exchange rates and possible taxes or brokerage. A higher raw-card value does not guarantee grading will be profitable.

Choose the goal

Grade for protection, authenticity, personal collection value or resale—but decide before submitting so the cost matches your purpose.

Buy the slab instead

If you want a specific card and grade, buying an already graded example can be simpler than accepting submission cost and grade uncertainty. Canova lists available slabs with their actual grade and price.

Canova Collectibles is a retailer and collector resource, not a grading company. Grading decisions and grades are made by the grading provider you choose.
